OUR STORY
An emergency dispatch went out on the morning of August 4th, 2021, to the Stanton Volunteer Fire Department in Stanton, Texas. Much like he had done for over 30 years, Danny Ireton responded to the call along with fellow firefighter Allan Carby. On the way to the call, an accident occurred with an 18-wheeler. Ireton lost his life in the accident, but his last act was maneuvering the emergency vehicle to save Carby’s life. A wife, three boys, their wives, seven grandchildren, a fire department, and a community lost their hero on that day.
Danny had a servant's heart and loved his community. His wife Ronda and sons Brandon, Matthew, and Jonathan have been able to see the impact of Danny’s life work. He was a proud member of the Stanton Volunteer Fire Department, deacon at First Baptist Church, school board member, and community supporter. His family has decided to continue his legacy of serving others by creating the First Responder Families of West Texas Foundation.
The mission of the foundation is to give aid, comfort, and resources to families after the death of an active first responder in the counties of Andrews, Borden, Crane, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Garza, Glasscock, Hockley, Howard, Irion, Lubbock, Lynn, Martin, Midland, Mitchell, Nolan, Reagan, Scurry, Sterling, Terry, Tom Green, Upton, Ward, Winkler.
